Matariki poem

Have you ever heard matariki?

sure you have!

Remember the time when you heard your parents talking to your aunts and uncles. Remember when you heard your cousins running, laughing and playing around.Remember hearing the fireworks popping and filling your ears with noise.

That was Matariki.

Have you ever seen matariki?

Sure you have!

Remember the time when you looked in the night sky and saw the stars shining brightly in your eyes. Remember the time fireworks popped and put color in the dark sky.

That was Matariki.

Have you ever smelt Matariki?

Sure you have!

Remember the time smelling the smoke from the pig and the delicious smell coming from the pig. Remember the time smelling the fresh grass from the ground.

That was Matariki.

Have you ever tasted Matariki?

 Sure you have!

Remember the time when you tasted the juicy pork in your mouth. Remember the time when you had pork with rice and tomato sauce and barbeque sauce in your mouth and tasted each flavor of the sauces and the sticky rice in your mouth.

That was Matariki.

Have you ever touched Matariki?

Sure you have!

Remember the time when you felt the soft skin of the pork while trying to eat it. Remember the time when you felt your cousins touching you while playing tag. Remember the time when you felt the strong cold wind on your face.

That was Matariki.
